FHS Youth Coalition turns to video to change attitudes

Following the success of the video the youth made to encourage teachers to take the PRIDE Survey seriously, the youth decided to increase their use of social media and videos to influence behavior. A committee formed for this purpose will meet on December 15 to design videos to increase knowledge and perception of harm of opiates and marijuana.

Planting the PROMise on Election Day

About 20 youth showed up on a soggy election day to plant red tulip bulbs at all of the new schools. This year for the first time we asked the youth to sell tulip bulbs to friends, family and neighbors in support of the "Plant the PROMise" campaign. This spring we hope to see a thousand new red tulips in Fairfield showing support of youth who choose to make healthy decisions.

Marijuana Normailzation Changing landscapes in policy are showing up in stores designed to attract teens. As we prepare Fairfield for marijuana as medicine, it is important to understand the influences that are shaping attitudes and perceptions. Coalition members all over the county will be conducting environmental scans over the next 6 weeks to increase our understanding of local conditions.
